Records indicate Dr. Nucatola, featured in David Daleiden’s videos, may be doing unlicensed abortions in Lafayette
Representatives of Tippecanoe County Right to Life are filing complaints with the Attorney General’s office and the Indiana State Department of Health regarding two Termination of Pregnancy Reports that indicate the Planned Parenthood facility in Lafayette may be performing unlicensed surgical abortions.
Termination of Pregnancy Reports from March 5 indicate that Dr. Deborah Nucatola, the facility’s medical director, performed at least two suction curettage abortions, even though the Lafayette Planned Parenthood is only licensed to perform chemical abortions. In order for a facility to be able to provide surgical abortions, the facility must meet certain physical building requirements and safety standards that go beyond what is required for chemical abortions.
Dr. Nucatola has been listed as the facility’s medical director since December of 2019. She previously had made national headlines when she was caught on video tape discussing how to protect organs during an abortion in order to preserve them for fetal tissue procurement.
While calmly munching on a salad, Dr. Nucatola explained how to use ultrasound to move a baby into breech position for optimum tissue harvesting. “We’ve been very good at getting heart, lung, liver, because we know that, so I’m not gonna crush that part, I’m gonna basically crush below, I’m gonna crush above, and I’m gonna see if I can get it all intact,” she said.
Tippacanoe County Right to Life discovered that Dr. Nucatola had marked two abortions on her March 5 Termination of Pregnancy Reports as surgical abortions. Termination of Pregnancy Reports are public records of abortions in Indiana which are routinely reviewed to ensure Indiana’s abortion procedure, licensing, and reporting requirements are being met. Representatives of Tippacanoe County Right to Life have filed complaints with both the Attorney General’s office and the Indiana Department of Health.
“If Planned Parenthood brought in a prominent doctor to begin surgical abortion procedures in Lafayette, women’s health and safety is at serious risk,” said Kevin Niebrugge, President of Tippacanoe County Right to Life. “The Lafayette facility is not licensed to do surgical abortions, because ther facility is not set up to meet physical building and safety standards required for surgical abortions.
“We urge the Attorney General and ISDH to swiftly look into the reports of unlicensed surgical abortions at the Lafayette Planned Parenthood. Until there is a thorough investigation, wonen’s health is at risk.”
