Life Chain Participation
The Life Chain (see www.lifechain.net), a national / international event in its 31st year, is a peaceful and prayerful public witness of pro-life individuals standing in silent prayer for one hour, praying for our nation and for an end to abortion. It is a visual statement of solidarity by the Christian community that abortion kills children and that the church supports the sanctity of human life from the moment of conception until natural death.
In Indianapolis, we are preparing for our 28th annual event, to be held on Sunday, October 7, 2018 from 2:30 pm to 3:30 pm. The event is held along north Meridian Street and, this year, due to some road closures, will be held along two segments – on north Meridian from 38th St to 30th St., and from 15th St. to Michigan St.
Participation is very simple – along the routes above, various “sign tables” will be placed for access to pre-printed standard signs that convey simple messages of truth about the tragedy of abortion in our land, such as “Abortion Kills Children,” “Adoption – the Loving Option,” “Jesus Forgives & Heals,” “Lord, Forgive Us and Our Nation,” “Abortion Hurts Women,” “Pray to End Abortion,” “El Aborto Mata Ninos,” and “Pregnant? Need Help? 1-800-712-HELP”. Simply stop by a sign table, select a sign you prefer, then join other participants who stand along Meridian St. in silent prayer from 2:30 pm to 3:30 pm.At the conclusion, return your sign to the sign table and be on your way… that’s it!
Dozens of churches and faith communities are assigned to certain locations along Meridian Street to cover the route as uniformly as possible – we’d be happy to assign your group to a particular location if that is of interest. Or you can participate anywhere along the way, as you prefer.
